Need to know what version of Solaris you are running? Unsure about your OS Level or your processor speed on your Sun SPARC server? There are a few quick commands you can execute to determine this.
To determine your Solaris OS platform:
uname -a
This should return a description of the basic information currently available from the system.
SunOS mercury 5.10 Generic_118822-25 sun4u sparc SUNW,Ultra-60
If you want to know more detail you can run prtdiag from /usr/platform/sun4u/sbin/ . Note that sun4u is the “Class” of machine you are running and can be replaced with the correct “Class”. This will show you processor speed, memory amount, and device information.
# prtdiag
System Configuration: Sun Microsystems sun4u Sun Ultra 60 UPA/PCI (UltraSPARC-II 360MHz)
System clock frequency: 120 MHz
Memory size: 768 Megabytes
